Mauro kills Sun Ra 09-03-2004, |
| A tape loop drew the attention towards the stage as people were flowing in, finding a place to sit. Mauro had taken the stage, armed with a cd-player, microphone, a distortion/echo unit and various other attributes. Like a mad preacher he began shouting through the mic, distorting his voice and generating feedback by holding the mic against a monitor. The backing cd was started and a frantic version of "Rocket Number Nine Take Off for the Planet of Venus" began, with Mauro shouting "Rocking nr 9 is going to the planet, to the planet of Venus", throughout the whole of the song. The next song was "Mayan Temple", where he read from a book about the Maya's, played air guitar and 'operated' the alarm clock he had brought along. A shredding blues-version of "Journey to Saturn" followed, with Mauro on bluesharp. Chaos burst loose in the next song, with Mauro lying twitching on the floor, staring into the spotlights that were on stage. It started to resemble a Somnabula-show more and more, except this time, no instruments got hurt! The next song got announced as being a classic, which turned out to be "Astro black". The set closed with a rather intimate version of "I am the instrument", the song we know from the Shadowgraphic City gigs, played on a weird triangular shaped string-instrument. Some people already left after 15 minutes (the fools! go watch Jo Vally next time!). Too bad for them to having missed one of the most entertaining and original Mauro-performances. |
